We are a small, family-owned business based in Tampa, Florida, dedicated to creating weighted stuffed animals that provide comfort, calm, and connection. Our mission is to support individuals of all ages living with sensory challenges, anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, autism, Alzheimer’s, and dementia. We begin with carefully selected premium-quality plush animals and individually handcraft each one into a comforting weighted companion. We carefully add the weight, reinforce when needed, and finish each one by hand to ensure it meets our high standards for quality, durability, and comfort.

When I started Sensory Soothers, my goal was simple: to create comforting companions that could help families find a little calm when life feels overwhelming. As a parent raising a child with autism, I know how valuable it can be to have something that helps you ground, helps you breathe, and helps you reset. That purpose is still at the heart of every weighted animal we make.

Our journey began with our daughter, who is on the autism spectrum. Like many parents, we spent years navigating challenges and searching for tools that could help her feel secure. Weighted blankets were helpful, but often too heavy and overheated. Since she loved stuffed animals, we began experimenting with adding weight to them—and discovered that she preferred them over the blanket. She could place the animals exactly where she needed the weight, both at night and throughout the day. What started as a solution for our family quickly grew into something much bigger.

We launched on Etsy in 2019, and within months, we were humbled to see hundreds of customers—children, adults, and seniors—finding comfort in our creations. Many shared how our weighted plushies helped where blankets could not: offering grounding pressure without the restriction or overheating. Over time, we expanded our designs into larger, more realistic plush animals to meet the needs of adults and the elderly. Today, many families purchase our lap-sized cats and dogs for loved ones with Alzheimer’s or dementia, bringing both peace and companionship.
