We are a small family business located in Tampa, Florida, providing a large assortment of weighted stuffed animals to help calm sensory issues and symptoms of Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, PTSD, Autism, Alzheimer's, and dementia.  Every animal we offer is worked on with our own loving hands, and much time and care is put into each and every one.

We are also parents of a child on the Autism spectrum.  Like many others, we spent years trying to understand and weather the many challenges we faced with our daughter.  When we finally discovered weighted blankets, we thought they were amazing, as our daughter really benefited from the deep pressure of the weight.  However, we found that she would wrap herself completely in the heavy blanket, including her face and head, and we were constantly "unwrapping" her to find her asleep in a pool of sweat.  Our daughter loves stuffed animals.  When we began weighting them, we found she stopped using her weighted blanket, and placed the animals on her body where she needed them each night to fall asleep.  The animals are also portable and can be used throughout the day and on-the-go much easier than a blanket.  They have been an amazing comfort to her, and therefore, and amazing comfort to us. 

So, although we began this business weighting blankets for littles ones, it quickly changed to weighting stuffed animals for little ones.  We started on Etsy, and in just a few short months, had hundreds of sales and reviews from many adult customers using our animals to soothe their own ADHD, PTSD, anxiety, and depression.  The feedback we were getting was that weighted blankets were too constricting or over-heating.  So, we have moved into larger and more realistic looking plushies to also accommodate our large customer base of adults and the elderly.  We have many customers purchasing lap-sized cats and dogs for their elderly parents and grandparents with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, who have found great comfort in our animals.  We will never tire of hearing stories of how our weighted plushies are bringing peace and comfort to so many, with a side effect of joy!  It is hard not to feel infectious joy when looking into some of the sweet faces of our animals, or wrapping their arms around you for a hug! 

At Sensory Soothers, our goal is to help restore the body and mind of you or your loved one to a peaceful, more relaxed, and uplifted state of being.  We want you to feel grounded, secure, safe, comforted, joyful, and loved.  For some, that may be heavy weight pressed against a particular part of their body, or the act of petting an animal sitting on their lap.  For others, it may be to feel arms wrapped around them in a hug.  We know that nothing is one-size-fits-all.  Some may need something small and portable, while others may need something big and heavy.  We have a wide range of animals and sizes to meet the different needs of each individual.   We also have many different weights and textures to choose from.  We use different sizes of glass microbeads, and poly pellets, to achieve the best and most realistic feeling animals.  Go to our FAQs page to see how our animals are made.
