This giant 48" stingray doubles as a weighted blanket and plushie in one! Not only is it a beautiful piece to display on your sofa, but it feels incredible! The feeling is similar to the protective apron the dentist puts on you prior to x-rays, only way better! It is large enough to cover your entire torso and lap, and will make you want to just melt into the sofa! It is beautifully made, and can be weighted up to 16lbs. The pellets are distributed and sewn into the flat parts of the ray as shown in the photo, and a heavier amount of poly pellets and glass beads are placed in a sectioned-off casing in the center of the ray with soft polyester fiber fill surrounding it to create a nice soft pillow.
The actual body part of the ray is a 32"L x 30"W. The stinger is not weighted.
This ray has a very large surface area that distributes the weight nicely. So, for an older child, we recommend at least 8lbs, or 10lbs for an adult. It won't feel very heavy at all if you go any lower in weight. If you are new to weighted items, stick to the 8 to 10lb range. If you are purchasing for a younger child, please contact us to make it a little less heavy. Most of our adult customers purchase this at 12-14lbs.
***Please note that unlike most of our weighted animals, this one is not fully-lined. The only lined portion is the large center area where majority of the poly pellets go. We do, however, reinforce it by topstitching around all the seams on the stingray, so the poly pellets are held in well. That is also why we do not offer an all glass bead option for this stingray as the glass beads are so fine that we cannot be sure they won't bleed through the plush fabric. We do use a mix of glass and poly in the casing for the center of the ray.
